Wallasey Beach is a 45 minute drive from Manchester, with access minutes from the end of the M53.

The beach offers cross onshore winds, flat and shallow water. One of the biggest lagoons in the UK. Making it the best location for learning kitesurfing.

Pump foil lesson was great. The coach, Adam, was very patient and the lesson went on much longer than the allocated 2hr slot. It was great fun and I'd definitely go back. All communication was very clear and professional. The changing facilities were very clean and spacious. They lent me a wet suit which I initially thought it's a lovely day would I need this? And oh boy, did I need it. The marine lake wate was still very cool. If you're looking to learn or try out a new watersport I'd have no hesitation in recommending Northern Kites - top draw!

Great kite school! 10/10 would recommend. If you are thinking about learning kitesurf this is probably the best place to start! All the instructors are amazing, Pete, Craig, Gray, Adrian...everybody really patient and helpful. The course is great value with all the gear included. Once you have finished, Adam can also help you figuring out what gear is best to get. Amazing vibes!

Brilliant from to top to bottom: set up, location, quality of gear, quality of lesson, everything. Also a lot of fun! We have had lessons in a few different places but this was by far the best. Highly recommended!
FAQs
How long will it take to learn?
Most people will learn on average in around 12 – 20 hours. This can increase or decrease depending on how spaced out you have your lessons or if you decide to take private lessons
Having wakeboarding and other wind sports experience can speed up learning time
80% of the skills required to kite surf are in flying the kite. Keeping you and others around you safe is very important.
Is kiting hard to learn and do I need to be strong?
Kitesurfing is hard and dangerous if you don't have lessons. The learning curve is exponential. The more lessons you get in, the easier it will be. After 3 kitesurfing lessons, you will master the basics.
You don't need to be strong or even that fit. All the force comes through your waist harness. You can control the kite with the tips of your fingers.
What do i need to bring?
All equipment is included, but you can bring the below:
- A surfing wetsuit, if you prefer to use your own
- A towel for a shower
- Sunglasses for the first lessons as there are lots of looking up at the sky
- Any emergency medication you would like us to take out with us (Such glucose for diabetics / Inhalers / Epipens)
- Snacks
Can i learn with my friend?
Yes, You can book for two people in the same 2:1 class.

How much wind do we need?
The lessons are on if the wind is between 10 and 25 knots.
If the weather is not good for lessons, you can choose another date for your kitesurfing lesson.
How often should I book?
You can book as it suits you. We are open 7 days a week when there is wind.
We recommend to finish all your classes within 2 months.
Some people on a short schedule or travelling far can book two lessons a day with a lesson gap in between to rest

We are located within Wallasey Beach Club

Cancelation and refund policy
The booking policy is flexible to accommodate the effects of weather. We cannot however take any responsibility for the lack of wind/adverse conditions.
Any lessons cancelled by Northern Kites due to no wind can be rescheduled.
If a customer cancels less than 48 hours before the lesson starting or does not show, then no refund or alternative date is offered.
No refunds are given, Customers have 1 year to take their lesson
What support do you offer after I complete my lessons?
You can book our supervised sessions if you would like a little more support.
We will also add you to our WhatsApp groups so you can see when everyone is going out for a session. We are one of the friendliest communities :)

Our instructors will teach you all about the gear during your lessons.
We also have a great range of new and used equipment to buy from our shop. Ask about our discount on gear for students who have taken lessons

Equipment varies depending on windspeed, skill, body weight and riding style.
