This 4 day course is designed to introduce you to the teaching scheme and its safe and logical stages to take a student from a first session on a ‘non foiling’ displacement board through to their first turns on a foil.
Along with the syllabus this course will also cover different instructor styles and learning psychologies, safety and group management, suitable equipment, technical foil knowledge, location suitability, rescue techniques and handling wings & foils on the coaching boat and personal skill development.
To be eligible for the course, candidates must have the following prerequisite qualifications and riding skills;
- BKSA Membership
- Powerboat Level 2
- Riding skills; capable of riding in both directions and turning on a large displacement board. Riding controlled in both directions, up and downwind and gybing on the foil
- First Aid
- If not an already qualified instructor, 2 shadow sessions prior to course
